Frequently Asked Questions

What is a street team?
Street team is a group of individuals who are willing to spread the word out on bands and music in grassroot level by word of mouth and using promo materials (stickers, samplers, posters,etc.). Utilizing these materials and putting them in places such as record stores, live shows, shopping malls, schools, streets, skate parks…wherever you think you can get people interested in the bands.

Spreading by word-of-mouth is the BEST way to hear about new music because it's coming straight from one fan to another! We are looking to have the best street army in Europe!

Urbanited.com is also about community. Bringing people with the same taste and mind together. Teaming up is power!

NOTICE! We are operating in Europe and so the focus is here. People from other places around the globe are welcome, but Europe is a priority to us.
Does this cost anything?
One word: No
How do I become a member of a team?
How do I become a member of a team?

When joining teams click on the screwdriver-icon (jakoavain)-> join street team -> choose team/teams by clicking on white square -> click on "join selected".

NOTICE that password will be sent to your e-mail address!!! Use that password to login for the first time and then change it at the profile area. DO NOT USE HOTMAIL,MSN OR YAHOO -ADDRESSES BEFORE YOU GET THE WELCOME Email! These e-mail address providers tend to miss some of the password-mails.

After you have received the Welcome Email, Hotmail,MSN & Yahoo are OK.

Salasanan saatuasi voit vaihtaa sähköpostiosoitteeksesi myös edellämainittuja.
What do I get out of this?
You see your favourite band´s music spreading and can say ”Hey, I´m part of this crew”. Plus you can receive all kind of special merchandise, free tickets to gigs, be in listening parties, autographed cd´s and anything we can get in our hands.

But for those who are just looking for the ”free stuff”: Forget it. True street teamers have the passion for the band and the music. You can also meet like-minded people who share the same passion for music. Being in the Street team will get you closer to the band than others. Become a VIP!

Kuulumalla Urbanitedin street teamiin olet tärkeä osa etujoukkoa! Olemalla tiimiläinen pääset lähemmäksi bändejä kuin muut. Muista tiimiläisistä voit löytää kaltaisiasi ystäviä. Olemalla aktiivinen tiimiläinen ja suorittamalla annettuja tehtäviä voit saada erilaisia fanituotteita ja yllätyksiä ja pääset näin suorittamaan uusia tehtäviä.
How do I earn creds?
Creds are earned from the promotion what you do. So have your flyers with you all the time and speak about the band to your friends, workbuddies, schoolmates, people you run in the streets...To the everyone. Take a picture of you doing things or your things and report to us.
Sometimes cooperation with bands may be short and with only few tasks. So if you join in many street teams you have more opportunities to earn creds...and creds from different teams can be combined.

How do I know what to do?
Just check out the team tasks and from there you will see what to do. Also you can spread out flyers all the time, and also do radio request. You can do anything just use your imagination and then report to us. But stupid ways to promo aren´t given any creds. So use your head!

The grand idea could be that the more crazier and louder way you do it(within good sense) the better it is!
Miten ja miksi otan screenshotteja? Importance of pictures & screenshots and how do it!
Screenshotteja on äärimmäisen yksinkertaista ottaa:

1. ollessasi sivulla josta haluat screenshotin pidä Alt-nappia ohjassa ja paina PRINT SCREEN -nappia (saattaa olla näppäimistössäsi myös esim. Prt Scr -nimellä). Tämä komento siirtää aktiivisessa ikkunassa olevan informaation muistiin.

Screenshotteja suoritetusta taskista kannattaa lisätä task reportteihin. Esimerkiksi nettikeskustelusta, chatista ja äänestyksistä saat pienellä vaivalla kuvan liitteksi ja näin enemmän crediittejä!

Here's HOW:

1. Once what you want to take a screen capture of is on the screen hit the print screen key on your keyboard. This will transfer the screen capture into memory. (Note that holding alt and striking print screen will take a capture of the active window only.)

2. Open a graphics editor such as paint and press paste to put the image into the graphics editor (Paint, PhotoShop, etc.)

Screenshots of your message board post, IM conversation, or chat room time are very much appreciated. Pictures are an important feedback to us. It is a proof of street team activity to the record labels and bands. The more they believe in us, the more stuff they will provide to us. So if you have any chance of taking pictures, take some...But if you don´t have a camera, you can still do tasks. Then upload the pics or send them to us by good old SnailMail.

Screenshots are a very good thing to add to your reports. However, this does not mean you should attach pictures of the band or other non-related items to your reports. Screenshots of your message board post, IM conversation, or chat room time are very much appreciated.

Why was I removed from a team?
The most common reason people are removed from teams is because once we mail them supplies we never hear back from that member. If you join a street team - you are responsible for sending us feedback and letting us know about your promo efforts.
Why don´t I receive promotional materials?
We have only limited amount of promomaterial, so the more active you are, the more material you`ll get. Newbies can show their activity in the internet...like message boards, irc-channels etc...
What is an Active Member?
Active members are the core of new teams in the Urbanited.com and receive most promo materials from the bands. To give our humble thanks for this they are on top of the list receiving promosingles to rate, being invited to listening parties and so on...
SOME RULES TO FOLLOW - very important
- All promotion material is to be given out freely. It may NOT be sold. Do Not Sell your materials anywhere.

- Some shops or venues may have rules against handing out materials on their property…so ask from the shop owner or the venue staff. And use your head when stickering the streets!

DO NOT stick windows or private property or any illegal places. YOU are responsible for what you do!
Why does Urbanited.com exist?
Today MTV and commercial radio stations have almost homogenic playlists. These list play bands/artist which are "produced" into the same kind of format and there is no real alternative for different sound and opinions about the world.

I don´t dis pop bands. I don´t dis radio stations or MTV...Everybody has right to exist. I just want to give another channel for bands and people to be heard. So this means WE have to take the streets for the music and leave the radio waves for entertainment! :)
